That I hope to expand into bigger write-ups given the time.

1. TWO WHEELS BAD. Or more specifically, I really hate my motorcycle (well not my motorcycle, my dad's that he lets me ride around since my Yamaha FZ6 got busted up). The wheelbase is simply too long for the type of riding I'm into (or really, anybody should be - yeah I'm going to have to side with Wes here, as much as it pains me). I don't know what Yamaha was thinking when they decided the VStar 950 needed the wheelbase of a bus. I'd really like to get a cheap adventure bike, but unfortunately except for the good old standby KLR 650 none of them are really in the affordable range. Also, I'm equally tired of top-heavy bikes too (the FZ6 was a bit topheavy for my tastes and yes I dropped it now and then). The Suzuki Boulevard C50 is probably an ideal cruiser for me - small enough to maneuver, comfortable, powerful enough for what I want to do and given that it's shaft-driven and water-cooled, probably an extra bonus too (trust me, being in Colorado or especially New Mexico you'll learn to appreciate the water-cooled bike) and most importantly you can find them all day on Craigslist for a relatively minor investment. But it'd be nice to have an adventure bike to go along with it, or just an adventure bike as my sole riding means at least for now.

2. I've been thinking about what Hardibro said in today's Morning Shift about the fuel tax, and while I have to admit he's on to something it's going to honestly require a deep rethink of personal and public transportation. The reason why transportation and cars is so big in this country in particular is because freedom of personal movement is such a big thing - so any practical transportation solution has to accommodate that. That said, that doesn't mean we need to sacrifice incredible freedom of personal movement or even car ownership, but we do need to rethink what constitutes an exciting or luxurious car, how to promote public transportation and even radical redesigns of the public transportation infrastructure. There is a way to make small, fuel-efficient cars highly desirable - Mini, Fiat and even Kia have hit on that for a few years now. I take public transportation all the time, and not only is a good deal of the ridership people who for whatever reason or another can't drive anyway (and thus do little to alleviate congestion) but frankly public transportation schedules or placement is often wildly inconvenient (as I've written about before). The LightRail situation is improving that but there needs to be a better investment not of money or labor, but of thinking power. Hell maybe if just a few of us OppoNauts just got together and wrote our thoughts or even just a bunch of bullshit on where we think public transportation would be nifty.

3. And something, I forgot. Probably tine for bed! Oh, and hope you had a happy Halloween!
